Job Summary

Position Summary : The MSMS Program Director is responsible for providing oversight, coordination, and leadership to ensure the efficient operation of the Master of Science in Medical Sciences program.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities

  • Student Support - 70%
  • Orient new students to the program and Bethel.
  • Participate (in person) in all class sessions by stimulating small and large-group discussions, student participation, understanding of the material, and facilitating labs per professors' instructions.
  • Proctor exams and enter final grades into Bethel's system.
  • Provide professional, emotional, and spiritual support as students navigate the rigorous academic environment.
  • Advise students on their performance in the program, required coursework, schedules, and professional opportunities.
  • Work with students on their professional goals, applications, essays, etc. as they pursue education and employment post-graduation.
  • In collaboration with the Office of Student Success, mediate and address student academic and professional issues as needed.
  • Academic Program Development, Assessment, and Liaison - 25%
  • Communicate with PHSU faculty and staff, esp. relaying opportunities and concerns to Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) Director of Academic Operations.
  • Oversee and facilitate curriculum development in conjunction with PHSU / Tiber network.
  • Ensure the curriculum has appropriate standards for writing; faith integration; critical thinking; and professional practice, knowledge, and ethics.
  • Oversee and carry out the student learning outcomes assessment and improvement efforts.
  • Explore and respond to trends within and outside Bethel that may affect program quality and growth.
  • Foster working relationship with Tiber / Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine.
  • Assist with calendar development.
  • Manage budget and provide input on operating budget needs and changes.
  • Order and provide software licenses for students.
  • Provide set up and technical support for classes.
  • Support Growth of the Program - 5%
  • In collaboration with the Office of Admissions, support the admissions process.
  • Interact with internal and external audiences for program promotion.

    Work Environment :

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and / or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

    Time off will be during non-class days. Any other day off (that is not an emergency or result of illness) must be approved in advance by the associate provost or dean. All classes must be moderated as per the agreement with PHSU.
