JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Activity Aide Classification: Regular Part-time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Trinity Center Division: Prevention Services
Immediate Supervisor: Trinity Center Supervisor
Job Summary
Provide drug and alcohol prevention programming to children in an after school program setting at Trinity Center.
Essential Functions of Position:
1. Organize, set up and prepare for the daily routine of the program including activities, prevention materials and recreation.
2. Provide academic enhancement by assisting children with their homework.
3. Facilitate drug and alcohol prevention groups and activities.
4. Actively participate in and supervise recreational activities including games, free time and sports.
5. Assist with food preparation, serving, guiding children through the process and clean up after the meal.
6. Ensure work areas are kept organized and clean on a daily basis.
7. Monitor supplies and materials to ensure the proper elements are available for planned activities.
8. Assist in the implementation of community events and other outreach services.
9. Utilize a company vehicle if needed to pick children up from school and bring them to the after school program at Trinity Center.
Professional Responsibilities
1. Understand and fulfill job duties within the scope of the mission statement.
2. Adhere to the policies and procedures of the agency.
3. Maintain professional relationships with agency personnel, children in the program and families
4. Fulfill training requirements as outlined in the Staff Development policy and to increase knowledge base in the areas of prevention and group services.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Ability to work as part of a team where all members contribute equally.
2. Possess effective communication skills, both verbal and written. This includes the ability to converse with children and families of various socioeconomic backgrounds in a positive and professional manner.
3. Ability to provide written documentation as required.
4. Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions while maintaining
positive interactions with children and staff.
Required Education, Experience and Clearances
1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
2. Experience working with children in the areas of prevention, education, or recreation preferred.
3. State Issued Driver’s License is required. A CDL license or the willingness to obtain a license to drive larger vehicles is desirable.
4. FBI, Child Abuse History, PA State Police and Driver Clearances. Other clearances may be required dependent on residency status. Successful applicants must have clearances in hand before they can start at Bethesda.
Physical Demands:
1. Lifting requirement of less than 10lbs on an occasional basis.
2. Ability to move chairs and tables during the set up of activities or groups.
3. Ability to actively participate in recreational activities such as basketball,
kickball, walking, and gardening.
4. Ability to operate a company vehicle throughout Erie.
HIPAA Minimum Necessary Standard
1. Limited to necessity for position.
