What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Team Lead Shipping & Warehouse position at Bettcher Industries?
Essential Functions:
- Supervise the activities of the Shipping, Warehouse & Receiving Department and the team members to achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Provide daily reporting for Departmental KPI’s.
- Ensure that a disciplined and organized cycle count program is followed for all Bettcher Ohio inventories.
- Coordinate the movement of all materials to and from warehouse.
- Ensure all incoming product is received from vendors and recorded accurately.
- Ensure all outgoing finished products are shipped on time; review shortages daily and coordinate with customer service, planning, scheduling, VSM etc
- Participate in team problem solving activities and process improvement activities (RCCM, Pareto, Kaizen, etc.)
- Assist with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity, and cost reduction goals.
- Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.
- Provide direction and leadership to department associates achieved through consistent effective communication.
- Drive accountability with department associates on the completion of tasks.
- Assist in personnel actions for the department including:
- Recruitment: Regularly assess and evaluate department manning levels/usage and make recommendations to the Value Steam Manager and Human Resources as needed.
- Training/Development: Assist in development and implementation of department- related training.
- Performance Management: Complete individual work team performance reviews and provide mentoring, coaching and development for associates.
- Employee Relations: Provide formal/informal performance related counseling to associates.
- Safety: Assure all direct reports are aware of their EH&S responsibilities and hold all direct reports accountable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Assist Value Stream Manager with supervising a team of hourly associates during work hours and escalating to Value Stream Manager during non-work hours as appropriate.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma required.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years previous experience in Warehouse Management, Inventory, Cycle counting
and Delivery, Operations within a warehouse environment.
- 3 years previous experience in a strong leadership role, supervising front line employees strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point helpful.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong interpersonal & supervisory skills.

- Excellent time management skills.
- Proficient in conflict resolution.
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks to department associates.
- Ability and willingness to take initiative to ensure shipping/warehouse/receiving departments runs efficiently.

- This job operates in a manufacturing setting. This role routinely is in an air-conditioned environment with exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels. This role will be required to wear safety attire on a daily basis. Exposure to contaminants and hazardous equipment.
