What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at Better Basics, Inc.?
Reports to: Director of Finance
Status: Non Exempt
Schedule: Part Time, Temporary (two month contract), 20 hours a week, flexible work schedule between 8 am and 4 pm, Monday-Friday.
Pay scale: $25 an hour
*Starting salary for this position will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience and education.
The Organization: Better Basics is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization advancing children’s reading and mathematics literacy. Better Basics works to eradicate illiteracy among children in Central Alabama by delivering reading and math instruction and resources to empower the educationally vulnerable.
Position Summary:
This is a temporary position to support the current Office Manager and Director of Finance with general accounting, payroll, and administrative duties.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred
- Skilled and experienced in QuickBooks online
- Previous accounting/bookkeeping/payroll experience
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Responsibilities:
- Assist with accounting and bookkeeping
- Entering and working with data in Quickbooks
- Make general ledger journal entries
- Reconciliation of A/R, A/P, and bank accounts
- Assist with other administrative duties if possible
- Payroll processing
