What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development & Marketing Specialist position at BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU?
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, establish and execute BBB’s long-range non-dues revenue strategy and vision.
- Meet all revenue expectations of BBB’s non-dues revenue programs.
- For the search engine marketing program, SES , Torch Partnership ads, event sponsorship program, co-branded advertising program:
- Be accountable for each program.
- Provide account management support to all participating accredited advertisers to retain and build advertising revenue
- Communicate with BBB staff and supporting ad agency to ensure all necessary steps are completed to add a new ad account.
- Share monthly impression data with those responsible for maintaining KPI data
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, establish and execute BBB’s long-range website strategy and vision.
- Implement strategies to meet revenue and expense budget amounts for the programs.
- Work with the Communications team to implement branding and marketing strategies to increase revenue for each program.
- If vendors are involved, work closely with them to make the program cost effective.

- Be directly responsible for:
- Understanding BBB’s mission and vision and the impact that it has on the job duties of the Business Development & Marketing Specialist.
- Effective, clear and positive communication resulting in mutual understanding in all transactions involved within BBB.
- Knowledge of our primary customers (Accredited Business/Charities, consumers and staff) and their needs in order to effectively serve them.
- Supporting a positive departmental climate, staff motivation, and the daily support staff
- Implementing a self-development plan to increase personal effectiveness and broaden technical knowledge and organizational skills.
Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Experience in digital advertising sales preferred.
- Understanding of Google Analytics and ability to communicate the impact of these statistics to BBB stakeholders.
- Proven track record of applying new technologies and delivery methodologies to generate revenue.
- Sales experience preferred.
- Must have:
- Demonstrated expertise in collaborating and partnering.
- Strong interpersonal communications and project management skills and be able to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking is required.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and manage tasks.
- Ability to take initiative, self-manage, solve problems.
- Meet difficult and conflicting deadlines with creative, fresh and innovative solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
