Company Description
Better Morning emerged as an outpatient behavioral health practice in Ashburn, VA in the year of 2014.
In addition to providing counseling from the Ashburn office, Better Morning started off as a certified provider for intensive in home and community-based services (IHCBS), for at risk youth in District of Columbia.
In August of 2017, Better Morning was certified as a Core service agency (CSA) by DC Department of Behavioral Health. Better morning founder’s passion for at risk youth and their family were the motivation to keep expanding the evidenced based programs to meet the need of the underserved population.
Job Description
- Coordinate the housing navigation efforts with specific emphasis on supporting those experiencing homelessness.
- Assist clients in finding suitable housing options, including emergency shelters, transitional housing, and permanent housing.
- Landlord engagement, housing search assistance with completing rental applications.
- Identifying funding for move-in assistance
- Support a team-based environment that motivates and inspires team members to work collaboratively toward the team’s and Better Morning goals, meet and exceed established performance goals, and improve client outcomes.
- Work closely with assigned case manager to support households with the housing navigation process from initial assessment to move-in – with a goal of securing housing within the scheduled time.
- Assess individual and family needs, as well as resources, to match appropriate affordable housing opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, housing placements, and progress.
- Prepare reports on program outcomes, challenges, and successes.
- Provide information on housing including site visits.
- Support households in securing necessary documentation and completion of applications.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of all necessary inspections, certifications.
- Ensure households receive appropriate home essentials kits in a timely manner.
- Attending lease signings to support individuals and families.
- Execute partnerships with established list of housing partners to match available housing units with clients.
- Support agency-initiated stewardship efforts with existing housing partners and recruitment efforts with potential housing partners.
- Provide responsive, timely support for housing partners to address critical issues in concert with case managers and impacted tenants.
- Maintain housing records in accordance with federal, state, county, agency, and funder standards.
- Participate in on-going training and professional development opportunities.
- Additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, social services, counseling, business administration, or related field from an accredited institution preferred.
- Three (3) years' experience in vocational rehabilitation, case management, or related field; and/or work experience determined to be acceptable to the agency.
Skills:
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of community resources, family support systems, and behavioral health services.
- Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in documentation.
