Summary:
The Quality Analyst is responsible for maintaining and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality programs, vendor approvals, documentation control, and regulatory standards. This role involves monitoring ingredient specifications, supplier qualifications, food safety programs, and ensuring compliance with SQF, Kosher, and facility standards. Will also play a key role in maintaining product specifications, conducting testing, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the Quality Assurance department.
Job Description:
- Maintain Genesis database with current recipe, ingredient, and nutrition fact panel updates.
- Execute against the Approved Vendor Program, ensuring supplier qualification and compliance, working with procurement to retrieve and review necessary supplier documentation.
- Review supplier documentation for changes to food safety and certification processes.
- Maintain new ingredient specifications to confirm alignment with company standards and maintain accurate ingredient Spec Sheets for all current ingredients.
- Maintain and improve document control for SOPs, SQF processes, and internal procedures, ensuring updates are made and properly branded.
- Maintain and improve the Kosher certification program, keeping ingredient certifications current and updating the Earth Kosher portal for any product changes.
- PCQI sign off of CCPs/Preventative Controls.
- Administer and verify SQF Prerequisite Programs, including vendor portals such as Walmart, Repositrak, and TraceGains.
- Conduct daily QA Pre-Operational Walkthroughs and Internal Audits.
- Perform new product, incoming, and raw ingredient testing (e.g., APC, Yeast & Mold, Coliform, water activity, pH levels).
- Maintain and implement Environmental Swabbing program.
- Generate Food Safety Reports for meetings, updating key performance graphs.
- Coordinate with the inventory and purchasing manager to manage expired ingredients and Hold program.
- Submit samples for microbiological testing if needed.
- Lead non-conformance investigations and start CAPA's.
- Maintain the SAGE ERP system ensuring timely closure of hold processes.
- Maintain the retention program for QA records and documentation.
- Serve as a RedZone Admin User, ensuring proper tracking and reporting of QA-related data.
- Organize and present monthly training sessions for employees on SQF, Food Safety, and updated procedures, maintaining the SQF training log.
- Schedule and oversee daily organoleptic testing for product quality evaluation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement in QA processes.
- Act as a Substitute SQF Practitioner when required.
- Provide backup support for the Quality Technician as needed.
Job Requirements:
- 2 -4-year College Degree, combination of higher learning or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of GMPs and food manufacturing operations.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft programs, Redzone, and Sagex3.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Proven experience in quality or a similar role.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in quality management tools and programs.
- Certification in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO) is a plus.
- PCQI and HACCP training a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry 55lbs.
- Walking and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Frequent keyboard use.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, balancing and squatting required.
- Ability to reach overhead occasionally.
- General manufacturing working conditions exists. Exposures include, but are not limited to temperature changes, noise, dust, and moving equipment/machinery.
