Summary
Under direct supervision, is responsible for repairing or overhauling gasoline / diesel light / heavy trucks and road construction equipment including welding, electrical and light body work repairs; and performs related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Repairs or overhauls gasoline / diesel engines, and hydraulic, fuel, cooling, and suspension systems for light / heavy trucks and road construction equipment
- Removes and replaces or repairs transmissions and clutch systems
- Performs brake system repairs and replacement of brake system parts including wheel bearing replacement and packing
- Performs preventive maintenance work on medium and heavy duty trucks and road equipment
- Operates testing equipment, troubleshoots and repairs electrical and mechanical systems
- Performs work on disabled equipment and vehicles on roadways
- Performs road tests on vehicles and road equipment
- Assists with welding and fabrication work for repair of equipment metal components
- Maintains record of all repairs and services performed
- Performs related duties as required
