What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Specialist Peer Support - Grant Funded position at Bexar County?
Under immediate direction, assists with the integration of service members and their families and the daily operation of the office of Military Services
- Assists with intake, reviews, and manages all documents and determines the appropriate process flow; prepares and routes documents as needed to the appropriate individuals or office/departments
- Meets with individuals on-on-one and conducts the initial intake of cases/assignments
- Answers questions in person, by phone, or electronically about office services and operations; trains and supports the public and members with research, contacts, information, processes or other resources
- Maintains records and reports in accordance with standard operating procedures and as required by other agencies
- Confers with various entities to complete research or provide additional information as needed
- Performs detailed data entry from electronic source material into system(s); may include various legal documents from real property records, student records, DD214's, federal documentation; scans documents and monitors screen image and ensures proper recording
- Conducts quality assurance reviews on documents and records as instructed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Graduation from High School or a General Education Development (GED) certificate, and three (3) years administrative or general office experience in a customer service environment or similar; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of MS Office products; skill in operating a personal computer, scanning equipment, and basic office equipment
- Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing; skills to effectively communicate with and support a wide variety of people of diverse backgrounds, including an understanding and respect for cultural, ethnic and individual differences
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, outside organizations and the public
- Must have valid driver’s license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- (Position may require additional security clearance requirements established by the Military)
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
- Experience working with Veteran and Military populations
- Constantly working in indoor conditions
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds
- Occasionally moves about the office
- Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
