What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist Military and Veteran Services position at Bexar County?
Under direct supervision, is responsible for receiving visitors; provides information and directions to the general public.
- Greets and directs all office visitors and answers the phone; routes calls to employees and/or takes and delivers messages
- Responds to general questions or complaints from the general public, customers or employees
- Receives, opens and distributes all incoming mail
- Maintains and monitors sign-in log; issues and monitors visitor passes
- Performs general clerical duties, including the operation of office machines and computer software; enters and retrieves data utilizing computer software
- Performs related duties as required
- Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate
- Knowledge of and skill in applying rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Skill in completing tasks effectively and efficiently; skill in operating a personal computer and typewriter
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to operate basic office equipment; ability to read; ability to follow directions; ability to effectively respond to customer inquiries and complaints; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, outside agencies and the general public
- Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
- May be required to work weekends
- Constantly working in indoor conditions
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
- Occasionally moves about the office
- Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
