What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Civil Operations Clerk position at Bexar County?
Under general supervision, answers questions face to face and via telephone; performs data entry; prepares abstracts of judgment and execution; maintains expungement files; prepares clerk's records; prepares files for transfer, responsible processes electronic filing and fax filing, assist in training and performs related duties as required.
- All functions currently performed by Civil Operations Clerk
- Prepares, researches and maintains abstract of judgments and executions
- Prepares notices for expungements and maintains expungement files through its destruction
- Prepares clerk's record and monitors its due dates for filing in the 4th Court of Appeals
- Prepares and monitors transfer of venue files
- Processes and monitors incoming electronic filings
- Processes and monitors incoming fax filings
- Assist in training of Civil Operations Clerk
- Performs related duties as required
- Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate and three (3) years general office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of legal terminology; knowledge of basic office procedures
- Skill in basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to understand and apply appropriate statutes and codes; ability to accurately collect cash; ability to accurately enter data; ability to deal with hostile or irrational individuals; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to operate a personal computer, 10 key-adding machine, typewriter and basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees, attorneys, outside organizations and the general public
- Acts in the name of the District Clerk and shall perform all official acts as may be lawfully done and performed by such Clerk in person, pursuant to Section 51.303 of the government code
- Must be bondable
- Must have legible penmanship
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance by the District Clerk
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Constantly working in indoor conditions
- Frequently moves items weighing up to 40 pounds
- Occasionally moves about the office
- Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
