Job Responsibilities
Planning & Instruction
- Review student/learner data to prepare lessons targeting identified instructional needs.
- Instruct learners at various educational functioning levels (EFL).
- Integrate technology and supplemental activities into classroom instruction.
- Monitor learner progress using formal and informal assessments.
- Prepare progress reports and learning plans for all students after summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate and timely attendance and other records, e.g., daily attendance sign-ins, weekly attendance entry, reporting of core and secondary goals and outcomes.
- Maintain complete, accurate and secure student folders.
- Engage in job-embedded professional development to improve student outcomes.
- Attend required assessment training and refresher courses.
- Actively participate in staff, program and education team meetings.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with partner program team.
- Check and respond promptly to email and voice mail messages (within 1 business day).
- Work collaboratively to achieve program goals.
- Actively participate in partner agency meetings.
- Regularly communicate challenges, proposed solutions and successes to supervisor and partner agency.
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in relevant subject preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year classroom teaching experience required (may include internship, volunteer teaching assignment, or small group tutoring).
- Experience in adult education or alternative education preferred.
- Experience using remote and/or hybrid teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Google Classroom) preferred.
- Knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standards, and standards-based lesson planning.
- Experience with Excel used as a database (or other data management systems) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to support the use of a variety of technology and courseware in the classroom, such as Burlington English, IXL and Khan Academy desirable.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and maintain a student-focused, solutions-oriented outlook.
- Ability to work well with diverse populations and develop positive relationships with students, colleagues and partners in the field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong oral communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite/experience using Microsoft Office 365/SharePoint a plus.
