The ideal candidate will bring 5-7 years of accounting experience , with a strong understanding of general ledger accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and subledger management. As a self-starter in a startup environment, the person will need to be comfortable handling a variety of tasks, from cash applications to month-end closing activities. Previous experience within the insurance industry is highly preferred. If you’re familiar with bordereau preparation , that's a bonus!

Key Responsibilities :

Oversee daily accounting operations, including cash application, accounts payable / receivable, and reconciliations.
Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Maintain accurate subledgers and assist with journal entries and accruals.
Prepare and review bordereau reports (or similar documents) as necessary, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Collaborate with the finance team to support internal controls and audit preparation.
Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior leadership on business performance.
Handle any ad-hoc accounting tasks and assist in the development and improvement of financial processes as needed in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications :

5-7 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and subledger management.

Insurance experience is highly preferred , ideally in an accounting or finance-related role.

Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of preparing bordereau or similar reports.

Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

Proficiency with accounting software and tools.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to business growth in a startup atmosphere.
