Associate Merchandise Buyer

Description

The Associate Merchandise Buyer works with Merchandise Buyers and vendors to ensure orders are fulfilled properly, efficiently, and in a timely manner. Resolves issues with late deliveries, discrepancies in quality or quantity, or failure to meet established specifications.

Compensation Data: Non-exempt hourly pay based on experience.

Travel: Minimal

Location/Schedule: Work from home. Must live in the Grand Rapids, MI area. M-F, 8-5 with flex

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintains a report of past due open purchase orders, contacts vendors for order status updates and communicates any changes to Buyer.

2. Maintains accurate dates of purchase orders based on vendors.

3. Maintains monthly vendor scorecards.

4. Prioritizes and expedites purchase orders to ensure inventory requirements are met, such as urgent shortage situations.

5. Reconciles confirmations with the original purchase order to resolve any discrepancies before the order ships.

6. Researches and resolves backorders on open purchase orders as needed.

7. Places purchase orders when directed to do so by either category management or the vendor for vendor managed inventory.

What you will need to succeed:

Education & Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· 3 years of experience in a purchasing environment

Competencies:

· Good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.

· Attention to detail and the ability to exchange detailed information effectively.

· Good communication skills.

· Proficiency in procurement software (Infor, SXe a plus), and Microsoft Office Suite.
