The Role
We are looking for a motivated and eager Junior IT Technician to join our IT department. This role is ideal for someone who is early in their IT career and passionate about learning and growing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day IT support tasks, maintain systems and hardware, help ensure network security, and contribute to ongoing improvement projects.

Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and deploy workstations, laptops, and user environments for optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware, software, and network issues.
- Support the helpdesk system by triaging and responding to service tickets in a timely and professional manner.
- Take the lead on Tier 1 triage of cybersecurity alerts, performing initial analysis and escalation of potential threats in accordance with established procedures.
- Participate in routine IT operations, including user account management, updates, and patching.
- Assist in the administration and maintenance of network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and wireless networks.
- Occasionally assist with after-hours support when required.
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
- 2–4 years of relevant IT experience in small to medium-sized environments.
- Completion of a diploma, certificate, or relevant post-secondary education in IT or a related field.
- Basic experience in deploying and configuring Windows and macOS devices.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Familiarity with IT service management systems (e.g., Freshservice, Jira) and ITIL practices.
- Understanding of network fundamentals including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networking.
- Exposure to server environments or cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure) is considered an asset.
- Experience in the cyber security field is considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Willingness and ability to travel to other office locations if needed.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 CAD per annum, however base pay will be commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. BGC's compensation package also includes a training allowance and a comprehensive medical and dental plan.
