Our hospitals and healthcare client is undergoing a corporate restructuring is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to provide hands-on accounting and financial leadership during a critical transition period. The organization is in the process of unwinding a partnership with another healthcare entity, resulting in several key finance personnel departures. The Interim Controller will help ensure continuity and operational stability while supporting the CFO in rebuilding the finance function. The focus will be on the physician enterprise, which includes a large, multispecialty group of employed physicians and approximately $130M in annual revenue. The role will involve traditional controllership duties along with process improvement, team support, and preparation for future permanent hires.
Location: This is an onsite opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute monthly close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies
- Deliver financial analysis and insights to support operational leadership
- Help re-establish workflows, policies, and procedures in a post-separation environment
- Support the CFO in evaluating and restructuring the finance and accounting team
- Partner with physician enterprise leadership to ensure financial transparency and alignment
- Prepare for an orderly transition to permanent team members
- Collaborate with other interim resources and cross-functional departments
- Be available on-site for onboarding and initial stabilization; remote work possible thereafter
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in a Controller or Director of Accounting role within healthcare
- Deep experience with Workday ERP (Finance/HR/Payroll)
- Background in physician enterprise finance/accounting (ideally in a large medical group or integrated health system)
- Familiarity with Epic EHR and integration with finance systems a plus
- Comfortable operating in dynamic, transitional environments
- CPA or equivalent credential preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, hands-on approach
