Job Description: Senior Revenue Accountant
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to manage regulatory reporting and compliance. This role involves filing production and severance taxes, royalty payments, and addressing audit findings. Key responsibilities include accurate filings, reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts, collaborating with regulatory agencies, and developing reporting tools. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and organizational skills to handle detailed data and meet deadlines. This position reports directly to the Regulatory Accounting Supervisor and is based onsite at their Houston, Texas headquarters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and file production and severance tax reports and royalty payments for state, tribal, and federal regulatory agencies (e.g., TX, NM, OK, PA, BIA, ONRR).
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies through regular updates and responses to inquiries.
- Address compliance-reporting issues and audit findings in coordination with stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory statutes to ensure accurate filings and payments.
- Review state, tribal, and federal royalty and tax filings, including amendments, for accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations monthly.
- Assist in developing and implementing reporting tools, control processes, and documentation of business workflows.
- Conduct special projects requiring expertise in regulatory reporting as assigned.
Job Requirements
Skills and Experience
- Experience with Oracle EBS and P2 Enterprise Upstream.
- Proficiency in computing skills and Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage large volumes of detailed data with accuracy.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Years of Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
