What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Analyst position at BGSF?
BGSF has partnered with a construction company in SW Houston, and they are seeking an Indirect Tax Analyst to join their team. This position will be responsible for the preparation and filing of all indirect taxes that include sales tax, property tax, unclaimed property, B&O taxes, and other various indirect taxes that are applicable. Additional duties consist of the following:
- Prepare sales and use tax returns for multiple states
- Reconcile sales and use tax accounts
- Review Accounts Payable invoices for use tax accruals
- Prepare journal entries monthly related to use tax accruals
- Research specific tax issues concerning sales and use tax as they arise
- Assist with sales and use tax audits as needed
- Prepare new sales tax applications for states as needed
- Various Property tax duties- including reviewing returns, reconciliations, accruals, and year end processing
- Some corporate tax work as well
- Other projects/indirect taxes as needed to be filed
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor Degree in Accounting along with 3-5 years of experience in sales tax, property tax and corporate tax. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple monthly tax deadlines accurately and efficiently is required. Strong operating knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) preferably experience with VLOOKUP and pivot tables is key.
