EXPERIENCED Tree Service Crew Member / Leader / Foreman

Overview:

The Tree Service in Des Moines is seeking experienced workers for the upcoming 2025 season. Crew members as well as (a) Foreman are sought after who can be responsible for coordinating and completing daily activities before, during, and after at work sites to ensure operations and that personnel adhere to all safety protocols, quality standards and deadlines while respecting homeowners and property as well as equipment necessary for completing jobs.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a stellar service that is promised from initial contact until final cleanup is completed using techniques from a lift, bucket truck, climbing, or on the ground.
• Leaders are expected to supervise crew members ensuring that all work is performed safely and efficiently.
• Crew members expected to work together to efficiently complete jobs based on their skills and experience.
• Foremen may need to train new crew members on proper tree trimming techniques, safety procedures, and the use of equipment.
• All crew members must adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of tools and machinery.
• As a team, monitor work sites for potential safety risks and take corrective action as needed.
• Plan and coordinate daily work activities, ensuring timely completion of projects.
• Foremen will need to communicate with property owners as needed to plan work and obtain necessary permissions.
• Inspection of job sites before and after work to ensure that all trees and brush are cleared according to specifications and that no damage is done to surrounding property.
• Oversee the maintaining and proper use of all equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, trucks, aerial lifts, and grapple truck.
• Ensure that all equipment is inspected regularly and maintained in good working order, reporting a list of maintenance requirements to owner.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or needs for repair to management immediately.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time sheets, job reports, and safety inspections.
• Provide regular updates to management on project progress and any issues encountered.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in tree trimming, removals and/or line clearance
• Experience working around power lines and other utility structures is required.

Skills

• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
• In-depth knowledge of tree trimming techniques, safety regulations, and equipment operation.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work in various weather conditions if required by the job. Must have the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, including twisting, bending, climbing, and stooping. Must possess fine motor skills and dexterity to handle tools and equipment.

Other Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver’s license, CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is preferred.Willingness to travel if required by the job a possibility.

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• On call
• Weekends as needed
• Less hours during off season (winter time)

Experience:

• Climbing, Bucket work, Felling, Rigging, and safe / proper pruning.

License/Certification:

• CDL (Preferred - not required)

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
