Your Role The Opportunity
As the Design Leader, you will be responsible for leading the architectural design process within the Higher Education market. This position plays a strategic role in creating innovative design solutions, developing team members toward design excellence, and building client relationships.
The Role Priorities
- Lead design expectation setting with clients and coordinate design expectations with BHDP Managers
- Maintains responsibility for fully embracing and executing the Design Process on all assigned projects, and regularly monitoring the use of the Design Process and communicating the steps and benefits to staff and clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior members of the client’s leadership teams, establishing yourself as their partner and trusted advisor.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to select appropriate consultants and internal resources for assigned projects.
- Actively lead and contribute to researching new trends and best practices in the design of forward-looking Higher Education facilities.
- Establish membership and active participation in national professional higher education and design organizations.
- Responsible for directing efforts to identify and obtain new project opportunities as well as supporting other key leaders to deliver their business and sales plans for both new and existing clients.
- Present BHDP expertise as a thought leader and industry expert at professional organizations supported by the firm's Higher Education clients.
Skills Qualifications
- 15 years of architectural experience; 5 years experience in planning and designing buildings and major additions/ renovations within the Higher Education market
- Undergraduate degree and/or master’s in architecture
- Architectural registration required
- Strong customer focus
- Strong decision quality
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively graphically, verbally, and in writing
- Drives results both independently and with others
