BHS Robotics is seeking a Controls Engineering Manager to join our growing team in Hanover Park, IL ! This is an on-site position requiring up to 20% travel. Summary : As the Controls Engineering Manager, you will be at the helm of a dedicated team of Controls and Electrical engineers. This role will validate cost accuracy in system concepts during the quotation phase and ensure that all company and customer projects adhere to established timelines and final budget constraints. Your role will be pivotal in guiding the design, development, testing, and commissioning of control systems for our projects. Your leadership will be key in steering the controls engineering team through the technical complexities of each project, ensuring that our innovative solutions align with our customers’ needs and our company's standards of excellence. Responsibilities : Lead the controls engineering team across all project phases, ensuring the production of necessary documentation such as Bill of Materials (BOMs), control schematics, software programs, and operational manuals. Foster a collaborative environment with other engineering disciplines, as well as the mechanical and electrical build teams, to deliver projects that meet our rigorous quality benchmarks within agreed timelines. Interface with the sales department to outline control specifications for new projects. Direct the strategic planning of the controls engineering department to achieve corporate objectives in new product design, development, and the refinement of existing product lines. Mentor the team in controls engineering best practices, establish project priorities, and conduct design reviews along with regular performance evaluations. Ensure that control system designs comply with engineering principles, company standards, customer specifications, and related industry norms. Take on additional responsibilities as the need arises to support the team and projects. Requirements : A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field, with a Master’s degree being preferred. At least 10 years of experience in a technology-driven industry, preferably with a focus on control systems. Innovative thinking with the ability to quickly pinpoint issues and formulate effective solutions. In-depth technical expertise in control logic, programming languages like C , and systems including HMI, SCADA, VFDs, servo / motion control, and robotics. Proficiency in computer software, particularly Office365, and familiarity with engineering tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, Motoman Inform, ABB Robot Studio, RSLogix, Cognex In-sight Explorer, and Indusoft. Desired personal attributes include strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction. Ability to work onsite and travel up to 20% as required. Manual dexterity for wiring or working with small control components. Good visual acuity for detailed work on control systems and interpreting technical documents.
