Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Electrical, Mechanical or Firmware degree preferred.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience within product development, project management, electronic circuit design, mechanical engineering design, and/or test and manufacturing engineering.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in managing engineering projects ranging from moderate to complex.
  • PMP certification required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience with project management software.
  • Knowledge of and experience with product development from the design process through customer delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management techniques and practices.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience, both technical and non-technical.
  • Ability to lead and effectively participate in cross-functional teams in a matrix management environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.

Working Conditions: Encountered on a regular basis as part of the work this job performs.

  • Typical office environment.
  • Laboratory environment that requires use of equipment such as thermal chambers, cycle testers and equipment fans.
  • Travel approximately 5 to 10%.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Senior Technical Project Manager serves as a project manager for hardware engineering projects related to both new and existing products. Plans, documents and executes project plans according to defined timelines, budgets and quality objectives. Coordinate and lead the activities of multiple cross-functional teams to complete projects in support of BI business strategy and objectives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Senior Technical Project Manager manages sustaining engineering projects for existing products to address quality, cost and customer satisfaction issues.
  • Manages engineering projects related to the development and introduction of new products.
  • Manages project plans and schedules from initiation to conclusion to ensure that project milestones and timelines are met.
  • The Senior Technical Project Manager creates and manages documentation to clearly define scope of projects related to existing and new products.
  • Determines staffing resources required to complete project plans. Recruits and manages appropriate staffing resources. Clearly communicates expectations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Provides regular reports on project progress to senior level management and stakeholders.
  • Plans, leads and executes risk mitigation and qualification testing for assigned products to ensure manufacturability of products and resolution of sustaining issues.
  • The Senior Technical Project Manager leads and participates in concurrent and value engineering efforts to provide continuous improvement of processes and products.
  • Provides technical and engineering analyses to evaluate development issues with hardware and processes/methods in preparation for transfer to manufacturing.
  • Creates and manages documentation to support new product qualification and regulatory certifications.
  • The Senior Technical Project Manager serves as a technical liaison with quality, manufacturing, purchasing and external suppliers to ensure that product specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Plans and leads preliminary design reviews (PDR) and critical design reviews (CDR) to ensure that all issues are resolved and that functional and marketing requirements are met.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
