Job Description
Under the direction of the Distribution Center Manager, the 2nd shift Sr. Warehouse Supervisor has general responsibility for coordinating and supervising all 2nd shift Distribution Center activities, including Inventory, Shipping, Receiving, and Production.
- Manage and coordinate the activities of 2nd shift Production Supervisor and other 2nd shift BIC Team Members, including determining work procedures and schedules, providing direction, assigning duties, reviewing work, recommending disciplinary/personnel actions, and conducting performance reviews.
- Partner cross-functionally within Global Supply Chain to ensure successful execution of operational plans.
- Build people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for supervisory and front-line hourly personnel.
- Support the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Distribution Center.
- Ensure the proper handling of freight tendered to carriers for Shipping department.
- Adhere to local, State, and Federal regulations, including, but not limited to, OSHA, DOT, and EEOC.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and work with Environmental Health and Safety to ensure all regulations are compliant.
- Demonstrate safety leadership in his/her daily management by communicating and maintaining the health and safety standard for the production area
- Drive the permanent elimination of unsafe acts of people and unsafe conditions by providing necessary resources to identify, evaluate and control risks of injury or illness
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our environmental footprint regarding waste production and energy and water consumption
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, or related field required
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of warehouse management experience; at least two (2) years in a supervisory position
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite software, JD Edwards and Manhattan Associates WMS or similar systems
- Ability to function successfully in a fast paced, changing work environment
- Knowledge and experience with Bar Coding equipment
- Working knowledge of Logistics automation – scanning equipment, RF systems, voice picking technology, conveyors, and high speed sortation systems
- Knowledge and experience with transportation industry
- Ability to analyze, develop, initiate, and implement plans and strategies to achieve goals.
- Experience with material handling equipment
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Hazardous Material handling certification
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
