WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
The Director of Engineering holds a paramount leadership role, steering the strategic course of our organization's technological evolution. This position requires an extraordinary blend of visionary thinking, transformative leadership, and a profound mastery of downhole drilling applications. Your strategic direction will guide multidisciplinary teams towards pioneering breakthrough solutions, establishing industry standards, and propelling the pinnacle of technological innovation. Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Drive innovative development and commercialization of drilling motors and tools to address industry challenges and customer needs, including detailed design, testing, and feasibility studies
- Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams (product management, sales, operations, quality assurance) to integrate R&D with business functions
- Lead and mentor engineers and experts, fostering collaboration, communication, and professional growth
- Establish and maintain engineering processes, standards, and best practices for efficient product development
- Define project scopes, timelines, and resources for multiple R&D projects simultaneously
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation for on-time, on-budget delivery
- Ensure product alignment with industry standards, regulations, and safety, implementing quality control and rigorous testing
- Use market insights to drive innovative product development decisions
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Petroleum, or a related field (Master's or Ph.D. is a plus)
- Proven experience (typically 10 years) in research, development, and engineering of downhole drilling motors and tools
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and lead multidisciplinary technical teams
- In-depth knowledge of drilling technologies, motor systems, and tool designs used in the oil and gas sector
- Track record of successful product development and innovation, preferably with patents or publications in related fields
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strategic thinking and the ability to align technical efforts with business goals
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in complex and dynamic environments
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel domestically, 5% or more
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and components, up to 25 pounds
- Operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, copier/printer/scanner
- Sit and/or stand for long periods of time, up to 8-10 hours a day
- Walk/travel to production areas while wearing appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), at minimum includes safety glasses, steel toe shoes/boots and a hardhat
- Operate a motor vehicle per company Vehicle Use Requirements
