Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive QA Coordinator to join our team at Bidell, a leading compressor package manufacturer. This role will involve developing, implementing, and maintaining shop work instructions and processes that ensure consistency, repeatability, and high-quality standards across the production floor. You will be instrumental in establishing procedures, controls, fostering continuous improvement, and supporting the overall manufacturing process to meet production and customer requirements. Additionally, you will establish a comprehensive training program and collaborate with shop floor supervision to monitor training activities, ensuring that all personnel are well-equipped to meet quality expectations. This role involves working closely with the Calgary head-office QA/QC team to foster collaboration and share best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work Instructions Development: Develop, update, and maintain clear and detailed shop work instructions to ensure processes are consistent, repeatable, and aligned with best practices. Establish key controls to ensure effective monitoring.
  • Process Monitoring and Improvement: Evaluate and analyze manufacturing processes in collaboration with shop floor supervision to identify areas for improvement. Implement changes to optimize production efficiency and enhance product quality, ensuring the team is continuously improving operations.
  • Training Program Development: Design and implement a comprehensive training program to ensure that all shop floor personnel are trained on Bidell standards, work instructions, and process improvements.
  • Training Monitoring & Support: Collaborate with shop floor supervisors to monitor the implementation of training activities. Ensure that employees are effectively trained, and track training progress and effectiveness.
  • Training Documentation: Maintain records of all training activities, including employee participation, progress, and certifications, ensuring compliance with internal standards and quality requirements.
  • Spot Checks / Oversight: Perform regular spot checks to ensure that quality standards are being met.
  • Action Requests: Manage non-conformance issues, including documenting discrepancies, coordinating root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Documentation & Record-Keeping: Ensure proper documentation of all quality control activities, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and training records to maintain compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with Calgary QA/QA, engineering, production, and procurement teams to ensure the successful integration of quality standards and consistency throughout the production process.

Experience & Skills Required:

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a quality assurance role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in compressor package manufacturing or a similar industry.
  • Experience in developing and implementing detailed work instructions, process documentation, and quality control systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing training programs in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, and testing, with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus on quality even in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across various departments and levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and support shop floor personnel, ensuring they are fully equipped to execute work instructions and follow quality protocols.
