Description : POSITION SUMMARY
This is a full-time position and as part of the Development team, the Major Gift Officer will work closely with program staff to promote our mission. The Major Gift Officer will have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in business administration, nonprofit management or a relevant field; in addition, 2 or more years of nonprofit experience, preferably in development with a focus on individual giving / major gift management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates meaningful relationships with potential donors, Big Alumni and other key stakeholders and supporters
- Qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards prospects, donors and Big Alumni to create a pipeline for annual, major, and planned gift support
- Manages a minimum of 100 prospective major gift donors and a continuous pipeline of 100 prospective donors
- Coordinates with leadership to develop and to execute a coordinated strategy for major gift and Big alumni and their engagement including activities, benefits / tiers and recognition programs
- Creates tailored cultivation plans for each donor and assists in the development of long- and short-term plans to meet assigned revenue goals for general operating, special project and strategic funding priorities
- Prepares customized major gift-level collateral and proposals, in partnership with the development and program teams
- Organize events that introduce BBBS to prospective donors
- Actively participate in fundraising events and receptions
- Be an effective steward; communicate with, educate, inspire and celebrate donors to give consistently and more
- Responds promptly and appropriately to all major donor inquiries
- Be responsible for using and updating Salesforce, BBBSSEM’s donor database, as well as performing independent research on prospective donors
- Prepare reports and briefings to demonstrate portfolio activity and progress; assist in projecting and tracking multi-year gift solicitations
- Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and night hours, as needed
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
