Recruitment & Marketing Specialist
TITLE: Recruitment & Marketing Specialist – (Full-Time)
HOURS: 40 hours per week – salaried, exempt
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: up to 40% (Throughout Westmoreland and periodically Fayette County)
SALARY RANGE: $35,000 - $39,000 based on qualifications/experience

POSITION SUMMARY:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region (BBBSLR) seeks a driven and passionate Recruitment Specialist to help build and grow our mission and impact. This role will focus on building meaningful connections, fostering relationships, and implementing effective strategies to enhance mentor recruitment efforts, with an emphasis on long-term sustainability.
The Recruitment Specialist will play a pivotal role in promoting BBBSLR's mission and vision, while effectively communicating the value of volunteering during a critical time when mentors are needed most. Working closely with a collaborative and dynamic team, this individual will help streamline processes and facilitate communication across departments.
This position demands flexibility, adaptability, and exceptional networking and listening skills in a fast-paced environment focused on growth and relationship-building, all while keeping the organization's mission at the forefront.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentor Recruitment Strategy & Outreach
- Serve as a spokesperson and ambassador for Mentor recruitment by clearly articulating our mission and need to internal teams and external audiences
- Work with the team and Board to develop an active strategy for recruiting and retaining volunteer mentors.
- Manage analytics tracking including number of matches made, monthly volunteer inquiries, conversion rates from inquiry to interview and yield rates throughout the onboarding process.
- Identify recruitment obstacles and design solutions and strategies that overcome these obstacles on a continuing basis.
- Understand audiences and volunteer prospects to identify areas of opportunity to leverage recruitment campaigns via marketing channels.
- Effectively lead the BBBSLR Westmoreland Recruitment Committee and create a strategy to leverage participant networks, talents, and influence.
- Analyze recruitment initiative ROI and prioritize appropriately. Project Manage and track all agency recruitment projects, including those owned by other team members, in an effort to increase follow-through and efficiency.
- Use creativity and a human-centered design approach to find the most effective strategies.
- When needed, conduct Volunteer Info Sessions and enrollment components.
Partnerships & Events
- Represent the agency at frequent networking events (virtually or in person) to support recruitment goals and increase visibility. Establish and grow partnerships with event venues, restaurants, and other establishments with the goal of securing locations for in person or virtual recruitment events.
- Establish and grow partnerships with a variety of companies and organizations with the goal of securing Info Sessions, Lunch & Learns (virtual or in person), and other opportunities.
- Create relationships with other BBBS affiliates to learn and implement best practices for Mentor recruitment.
- Identify local events and opportunities in target service communities to generate awareness of BBBS programs for both Mentors and Mentees.
- Plan BBBSLR hosted recruitment/info session events.
- Be an active part in fund development, leveraging your events, relationships and contacts to sustain and create new funding opportunities.
Marketing
- Create marketing collateral when needed including Constant Contact pieces.
- Project manage Facebook and Instagram content as well as create social media content
- Utilize TikTok channel to increase visibility and mentor recruitment.
- Update website as needed utilizing WordPress platform.
SUPERVISION
This position will report to the Executive Director and will work closely with Program staff as well as Events and Development personnel.
60 Day Review and Annual Reviews
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Starting salary range: dependent upon qualifications and experience

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience including volunteer management, marketing/communications, or community development.
OR current students in pursuit of a related degree or experience in a similar capacity are encouraged to apply.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite and Canva
- Social media platforms, proofing and copy editing
- Website updating (WordPress)
- An articulated belief in the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a routine office environment that may include flexible work hours and work locations. This could include evenings and/or weekends to meet agency and community needs. Travel required to local communities (Primarily Westmoreland and periodically Fayette Counties), event locations and businesses. The ability to lift items for event set up is essential. A vehicle, valid driver’s license, and minimum state required automobile insurance are required in this position.
