Goal:
The Mayor’s Youth Workforce Experience will provide youth with a work internship experience and the necessary supports (Workplace Mentors, work and life skills training and practice, on-the-job experience, connections to supportive services, etc.) to promote long term employment and life-long success.
Overview:
MYWE is based on the researched informed model created by Big Buddy Program called, Level-UP!. Level-UP! is a mentoring and workforce development program which connects young people to Mentors, creates environments conducive to gaining valuable personal and professional development skills, and coordinates career exploration experiences for middle and high school youth.
Summary of Job Responsibilities:
The Program Assistant supports the coordination and execution of the MYWE program for high. This role involves scheduling activities, assisting with intern engagement, communicating with host organizations, and ensuring smooth day-to-day program operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about youth development and workforce readiness.
Specific Job Duties:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing weekly professional and personal development days.
- Serve as a point of contact for Scholars, host organizations, and program staff.
- Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and communications for program activities.
- Support program outreach, including social media updates and community engagement.
- Assist in troubleshooting issues and providing solutions for scheduling conflicts.
- Prepare materials, set up events, and coordinate guest speakers and site visits.
- Ensure program activities align with the organization’s mission and goals.
