Sales Manager
Responsible for:
Responsible for effective leadership of the sales team; meeting prospecting, sales and margin goals; increasing market share; maintaining excellent customer service. Ensure a consultive sales culture. Train sales staff as well as provide assistance and support to all branch employees. Monitor sales effort throughout the process to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.
Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate effective leadership in consultive sales skills and excellent customer service
- Verify accuracy of quotes and sales orders
- Develop a cohesive and effective team of inside and outside salespeople
- Provide training and ongoing coaching in all aspects of sales and customer service
- Help develop career paths for sales staff, using the job proficiency guidelines
- Establish and monitor standards of performance for sales staff using the job proficiency guidelines and team summaries
- Assist sales teams with challenges, customer issues, and decision-making needs
- Maintain a culture of engaging in proactive prospecting and identifying new opportunities for business growth
- Establish and implement strategies to expand customer base and penetrate new markets
- Conduct regular ride-a-longs with outside sales reps to meet customers, identify needs, and foster strong relationships
- Conduct weekly outside sales meetings to continually monitor team’s progress, coach and advise of changes to any process or procedures
- Monitor and evaluate sales activity to ensure consistency and effectiveness in prospecting efforts; review weekly sales pipeline to gauge progress and coach to continually push for more market growth and profitability
- Negotiate and meet with regional redevelopment teams to secure larger projects and develop long-term relationships that drive growth, all while maintaining integrity
- Forecast business trends
- Keep up with new products and product knowledge training
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of quotes, sales orders, purchasing and deliveries; analyze results and implement necessary changes
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal balance by using the min/max levels for more effective ordering and stock levels
- Communicate regularly and work effectively with all company staff to achieve the branch’s goals, identify areas for improvement and obtain a high level of customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with IT to create and leverage data-driven reports that enhance decision-making, identify trends, and improve business management
- Effectively manage labor costs
- Problem-solve employee and customer disputes in an effective manner
- Submit approved monthly commission reports for all outside salespeople to Payroll Manager.
- Submit quarterly Team Summaries for sales staff to Retail Division Manager, Branch Manager and Human Resources Manager.
- Take appropriate action and provide documentation on all employees in sales department, including hiring, safety, and disciplinary action with the guidance from Branch Manager, Human Resources Manager and/or Safety Manager
- Shop competition on a regular basis to develop a personal knowledge of the market and competitors’ strategies
- Do regular ride-a-longs with outside salespeople to meet, develop relationships and understand customer needs and expectations
- Promote the branch in the community by making regular contractor job site visits and getting involved in events that provide Big Creek with positive visibility
- Promote the branch in a way that fits the core beliefs and values of the company
- Work closely with Marketing Manager to develop new initiatives that achieve sales and marketing goals

Compensation
- Base salary of $80,000-$100,000/year on experience and performance
