Big-D Construction, is looking for a Payroll Clerk to join our team of professionals based in Salt Lake City, UT.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting the Payroll Specialist with all payroll related duties.
Experience/Training:
- 2 years of payroll experience is required
- Associates degree in Accounting, preferred but not required
- Construction industry experience also preferred but not required
Critical Skills:
- Understanding of payroll processes, technology and applications
- Understanding of payroll taxes, deductions and benefits
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service Friendly and courteous attitude toward fellow employees.
- Works well in a team environment and on their own
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, manage priorities and workflow
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Able to resolve problems and discrepancies efficiently

- Maintains a friendly and courteous attitude, even under stressful situations
Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)
- Assist in analyzing and uploading payroll data into the payroll system for 1000 employees
- Review employee time for completeness and accuracy
- Follow up with department supervisors to obtain missing timecards
- Enter payroll data such as garnishments, subsistence and per diem, deductions and other earnings
- Submit weekly ACH file when the Payroll Specialist is unavailable
- Assist with preparation and filing of weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports
- Handle incoming calls from employees and resolve discrepancies and issues in a professional manner
- Assist with verification of employment and income withholding form
- Prepare special reports and complete other projects as directed
- File, copy, scan, e-mail, fax, and other general administrative duties
- Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements
- Support Big-D’s mission and values as well as all policies and procedures
