What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orton Park Camp Waterfront Supervisor -Lifeguard position at Big Oak Child Care Center?
Orton Park Camp is seeking enthusiastic team members for our summer 2025 program from June 16th to August 22nd. We are looking for someone who has a lifeguarding certification and is comfortable in lakefront settings. Ideally this candidate has experience lifeguarding for elementary age children and love for camp and outdoor settings.
Duties
Waterfront Supervisor:
A Waterfront Supervisor must be present at the waterfront during water activities. The Waterfront Supervisor is not counted in staff-to-child ratios while children are in the water. The Waterfront Supervisor is responsible for maintaining safety in the water and on the shore line and checking children in and out of the water.
Procedure for checking swimmers in and out of the water:
A buddy system will be used at all swimming activities. No child will be allowed in the water without a buddy. A pair of buddies must report to the Waterfront Supervisor before going in the water and after leaving the water. The Waterfront Supervisor will hold buddy checks every 15 minutes. Staff in the water will have the tags of all children in the water; staff on land will have the tags of all children on land. Children moving between the Waterfront Supervisor and either staff in the water or the staff on land must be with a buddy and be carrying their tag.
Requirements
Lifeguard Certification Required.
Must be available Monday through Friday from 11:30-2:30pm
Salary : $18 - $20
