Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the Company’s accounting practices, maintenance of fiscal records, audit liaison, maintaining lending relationships, budget process, establishing and maintaining financial controls, design and implementation of all financial systems and enhancements, compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and statutes, identifying areas of concern where costs are inconsistent with resources and providing leadership to the Accounting Team.
Essential Job Functions:
- Timely and accurately prepares and presents financial statements and related reports, e.g. Company balance sheet, Company and individual station P&L statements.
- Monitors and manages operating cash flow.
- Responsible for timely and accurate operation of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Reconciles all bank accounts monthly.
- Prepares annual budget, monitors budget versus actual and recommend/implements improvements.
- Hires, trains, coaches, and supervises accounting staff.
- Prepares work papers for annual audit and interacts with outside auditors as necessary.
- Prepares and files required reports, e.g. quarterly Sales Tax Returns, quarterly UST Fee Form, and monthly SG Report.
- Ensure all financial systems, e.g. Price Book, Back Office System, Home Office, and GL Package, are implemented, maintained and upgraded as necessary and that staff is properly trained in their use.
- Provide administrative support and oversight for Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP).
- Provide Daily Book support for Station Managers ensuring they do required reporting on a timely basis.
- Analyze operating results for margin attainment, consistency, and problem identification through Price Book System. Make recommendations to President for margin improvement as necessary.
- Interact as necessary with vendors of products sold.
- Provides direction and oversight for Company's inventory control processes including supervising inventory operations personnel.
- Responsible for the following with respect to retail products sold in stations:
- Recommends to President new products to be sold.
- Coordinates sales promotions and pricing updates between Accounting Department and station personnel.
- Oversees and directs station inventory process.
- Proficiency in industry accounting practices and standards.
- Strong financial analysis ability
- Proficiency with GL Package and strong computer aptitude.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of all aspects of business and accounting methods.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting
- Minimum five years of relevant/related work experience.
