Position DescriptionThe Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting team and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across the company. This position plays a key leadership role in maintaining sound financial practices, optimizing accounting workflows, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a keen eye for process improvement, and a solid understanding of accounting practices relevant to renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and support the accounting team, including staff and senior accountants; oversee workflow management, training, and performance evaluations.
Financial Oversight: Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
General Ledger Oversight: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger; review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments.
Period-End Close: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; coordinate timelines and ensure all deadlines are met.
Compliance: Ensure accounting practices align with GAAP and company policies; support audit processes and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
Process Improvement: Evaluate and enhance accounting processes, systems, and controls for increased efficiency and accuracy.
Project & Department Collaboration: Work with other departments, including project development and operations, to support project-related financial needs and reporting.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist the Controller with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Grant & Incentive Tracking: Support compliance and financial tracking related to government grants, carbon credits, and renewable energy incentives.
Internal Reporting: Develop and maintain internal financial dashboards and reports for management use.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Experience with accounting in the renewable energy, construction, or project-based sectors preferred.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
