Brief Job Description
To provide sound educational alternatives and programs for children who cannot sufficiently benefit from the regular classroom instruction
Performance Responsibilities
Help diagnose academic, social emotional, and/or physical problems of students by the use of formal and informal methods supplemented by interviews and observation.
Participate in Evaluation Report Teams which determines eligibility as well as recommends appropriate educational environments and instructional approaches.
Develop Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) which reflect the student needs as identified by the CST.
Demonstrate a knowledge of alternative instructional techniques, curriculum, and augmentative technical devices.
Organize, develop, and implement special education programs in the assigned school districts using planned activities that the teacher or instructional aide may carry-out.
Communicate professionally with all staff members and administrators.
Keeps thorough on-going records for the students receiving special
education services and reports quarterly progress to the parents.
Keeps current regarding state and federal guidelines as well as local policies related to special education.
Attends staff , professional, and interagency meetings as assigned.
May be assigned screening and/or other related duties by the cooperative
Director.
Ability to physically manage our school age clients with proper transfers, down on the floor activities, and other physical assist types of activities.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pound loads to carry and set up equipment in a variety of locations
