Position: Tribal Elders In-Home Health Caregiver
Older Americans Act Nutrition Services
Salary: Starting at $20.00/hr. DOE
Hours: Full-Time
Reports To: Social Services Director

Position Summary:
The position is responsible for working with Tribal Elders in their homes and providing supportive services including but not limited to housekeeping, companionship, entertainment activities and assist with medical needs. The service is available to Big Valley Rancheria Tribal elders residing in Lake County, Ca.
Essential Duties:
- Maintain medications schedule and ensure elders take medicines on time
- Helping elders with shopping
- Preparing meals at home
- Perform necessary housekeeping to maintain a clean-living space
- Tribal elder’s community outreach
- Provide transportation.
- Assist tribal elders and family caregivers in accessing community resources.
- Provide health and nutrition information.
- Provide mental health and emotional support
- In home activities
- Home visits
- Conduct Tribal community elders need assessment.
- Order and deliver food to tribal elders
- Works collaboratively with staff and community agencies to support the needs of Tribal elders.
- Make appropriate referrals to community agencies and ensure proper follow‐up services.
- Attend professional development meetings and training opportunities to provide the best service possible for the Tribal elders.
- Represent Big Valley Rancheria at local community meetings and/or events.
- Always maintain confidentiality of information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with Tribal elders.
- Experience working with Tribal Families.
- Experience in case management.
- CPR/ First Aid Certified
- Experience in conducting culturally appropriate support groups and education.
- Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.
- Must have the ability to maintain a cooperative, diplomatic working relationship with co‐workers, supervisors, families, and the community.
- Must demonstrate flexibility in work settings, maturity of judgment and ability to work well with others.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, O20.00utlook, and Zoom.
- Must have valid CA. Driver’s License
- Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Other Requirements:
- Must be eligible for coverage under the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
- Preference in hiring is given to qualified American Indians in accordance with the Indian Preference Act (Title 25 U.S. Code, § 472 and 473). Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit verification by Tribe of affiliation or other acceptable documentation of Tribal Enrollment.
- Able to pass a BVR drug test.
- Work involves periods of sitting, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities, and lifting moderately heavy items, 25 lbs.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check and a pre-employment screening.
