Bill’s Distributing, Ltd. is an industry leader in beverage distribution. We are a family owned and operated company since 1954 and we are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Key Account Manager. The purpose of this role is to assist the sales department in growing all BDL brands in the portfolio at Bill’s Distributing and assist in the achievement of sales and distribution goals established by sales management and the Owners at Bill’s Distributing, Ltd.
Essential Job Functions
Planning:
· Work with the brand managers to establish distribution, display, advertising, and sales goals with in assigned territories and for the Company
· Work with the Sales Division Managers to establish monthly and trimester incentives and ensure the incentives are attainable and beneficial to the Company
· Attend all chain/national accounts meetings representing BDL and the brand portfolio as needed
· Work with sales management to establish proper space-to-sales per supplier standards
Training:
· Working with sales management, provide training sessions as needed to motivate and enhance performance of all salespeople as it relates to space management
· Assist salespeople in reaching objectives set for each account and review objectives with them on a monthly basis
Supervising:
· Assist all salespeople meet or exceed volume objectives on a monthly basis
· Assist all salespeople meet or exceed distribution objectives on a monthly/quarterly basis
· Assist all salespeople meet or exceed objectives for number of displays
· Assist all salespeople maintain and dominate the placement of permanent and paper POS in all accounts
· Assist salespeople in selling new packages and brands, booking in displays and helping set up ad features
· Create a team atmosphere and be a leader at all times
· Monitor adherence to Company rotation and aged product policies
· Monitor adherence to Company policies regarding route books, invoicing and daily call reports
· Provide appropriate verbal and written feedback (documentation) and work with HR department to provide guidance, as necessary
· Coordinate activities of the salespeople to ensure efficient and balanced delegation of duties
· Assist salespeople and monitor the collections efforts of the Company
· Coordinate periodic in-store account audits to verify individual sales representative performance in display execution, shelf space, distribution, etc.
Knowledge:
· Maintain extensive product knowledge of all Bill’s Distributing products and package mix as well as all competitive products and package mix in the market
· Know how to read company (and major competitor’s) code dates
· Knowledge of all BDL brands and pricing structures
· Know Market Shares of the Company and major competitors
Direct Sales Activity:
· Actively promote all BDL brands per AB and CBC equity agreements and other supplier agreements and direct sales staff accordingly
· Utilizing the shelf set program, secure the best position for products in all BDL accounts per supplier standards
· Develop and maintain a good rapport with all chain management personnel and BDL retailers
· Complete sales calls with Key Accounts to establish programming, new product sell ins, ad features on a monthly basis or more frequently if needed
Documentation/Reporting:
· Compile a monthly summary of all sales activity and review with the Sales Manager
· Show comparison of actual to projected performance
· Monitor all competitive activity and report findings to sales management
· Provide monthly shelf space submittals to the breweries, as requested
General:
· Professionally represent the Company at all times on the job and off
· Promote and maintain Company goodwill in all areas. Assist others and perform other tasks as appropriate and/or necessary. Help maintain the positive image of the Company in the trade
· Be visible and actively in involved community programs and sponsored local events
· Know, understand, and adhere to all Company policies and procedures
· Adhere to all applicable federal, state, county, and local regulations regarding the sale and merchandising of malt beverages and other beverage products
· Maintain appropriate dress and personal appearance standards
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in business/related field or the equivalent in education and experience
Necessary Skills and Abilities:
· Professional demeanor, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts
· Good communications skills (written and verbal)
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
· Valid driver’s license and good driving record
· Maintain appropriate dress and personal appearance standards
Physical Requirements
· Ability to move or lift various case stock, up to 30 lbs continuously, up to 60 lbs rarely
· Ability to sit frequently; occasionally walk, stand; use hands to operate computer keyboard or to lift, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear
Working Conditions/Environment
· Work is performed occasionally in an office setting as well as at retailers in the market
· Occasionally works in refrigerated coolers at retailers
