What are the responsibilities and job description for the SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER position at Billerica Public Schools?
JOB DUTIES :
- Provides direct counseling services to students assigned to the Multiple Skills and Services (MSS) program and other identified students with social emotional needs.
- Services students with global disabilities, inclusive of intellectual, physical, autism spectrum disorders, and medical impairments.
- Provides support to students and identifies interventions that are essential to success in the classroom.
- Develops and implements predictable routines, creates social narratives, provides choices, and uses visuals to support students.
- Assists with crisis management, including interventions per behavior management protocols when required and participates in the school-wide crisis team.
- Designs and implements content, instructional, and performance modifications.
- Ensures information is shared between teachers and paraprofessionals at team meetings.
- Participates in weekly or bi-weekly program meetings, building based meetings, and professional development activities.
- Conducts student assessments
- Works with a multi disciplinary team to ensure the creation and implementation of behavior plans and IEP goals and services.
- Establishes supportive relationships with students and families.
- Communicates and coordinates services with parents, outside agencies, and other school personnel.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Appropriate Licensure Master's Degree PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
