Responsible for serving and supporting the needs of the Billings Clinic REI practice by driving excellence in patient care, employee engagement, and business performance. Accountable for the overall operations of the practice/department and leads a multi-disciplinary teams to achieve positive patient outcomes. In partnership with the REI Medical Director and Billings Clinic leadership sets goals and drives the execution of those goals to achieve financial, operational, clinical, and laboratory success. To help the practice achieve these goals, ensures they are presented to and understood by the team; uses services and applications as needed, and shares best practices. Strikes a balance between day-to-day operating issues and strategic development initiatives to position the practice for solid, long-term growth.

Essential Job Functions

  • Understanding key revenue drivers and research/implement ways to use that data to drive better results for the practice in patient experience, clinical success, and business performance.
  • Facilitate and implement the annual budget process; evaluate department expenditures; evaluate needs for capital expenses within departments and evaluate staffing levels to ensure adequate and cost-effective staffing.
  • Develop credibility and authority as the financial leader of the Practice by providing accurate analysis of budgets, timely P&L reports as required, and present healthcare financial trends and related operational processes.
  • Implement policies and procedures required to effect the billing and collection for medical services.
  • Assists in developing a short-term and long-term strategic plan with clearly defined priorities, goals, and measures of success. Identify opportunities for growth and scale, and to emphasize areas that have the greatest mission aligned impact.
  • Evaluates the departments financial, operational, and marketing/sales structures to plan for ongoing improvements and better efficiencies.
  • Implements and monitors compliance with related laws and regulations and assure all supporting documents are filed and secure.
  • Makes recommendations and develops solutions to help promote effective and efficient work processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Creates and implements a management process to execute on strategy, including metrics, measurable goals, and dashboards.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor and consultant offering expert advice on contracts, negotiations or business deals that the corporation may enter into.
  • Creates an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the Mission, Vision, and Values that generates high levels of employee engagement, accountability, and performance.
  • Serves as an inspiring, accessible, and supportive leader, promoting an organization culture that attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse, highly-talented team.

  • Dedicates internal and outside resources to training and on-going development of all practice employees to ensure they strive for a patient-focused work ethic and experience high job satisfaction.
  • Ensures the department hires the best talent as demonstrated by high quality recruitment, selection and retention who deliver best practices in patient care/services
  • Creates opportunities for the multi-disciplinary teams within the department to work together to improve the patient experience and come to an understanding and respect for each department’s contribution to good patient outcomes.
  • Fosters a trusting and transparent environment in which colleagues can engage honestly and openly.
  • Organizes and manages the human and physical resources of the organization to achieve input, buy-in, and optimal performance.
  • Facilitates consensus building efforts and patient-focused cooperation.
  • Secures effective and efficient delivery REI's services and resources in accordance with all contractual arrangements.
  • Drives continual process improvement for the department by looking inside and outside the network/industry to source better solutions.
  • Serves as a resource to other departments to help resolve problems and identify opportunities for improvement and expansion.
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with all physicians to ensure open lines of communication and clarity with regard to the decision-making process and actual decisions made.
  • Develops and maintains clear and consistent lines of communication across the practice to ensure that all employees are aware of department's goals, priorities, and guidelines, and are recognized for their achievements.
  • Utilizes effective interpersonal problem-solving skills, empathic listening, and strong written/verbal communication skills to improve performance and the patient experience.
  • Manages department relationships in our complex environment that necessitate incorporating multiple departments’ policies and regulatory requirements into good patient care/services.
