Summary: To be a visible leader and active participant in driving B&T to zero injuries. The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of all departments within the foundry. Collaborating with metallurgists and Engineering, this role ensures adherence to established process conditions, enabling the attainment of end product specifications. The Superintendent troubleshoots operational issues, reviews test results, and collaborates with process engineering and maintenance to address challenges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties will be assigned that pertain to this classification.
- · Be a visible example of safety leadership on the shop floor.
- · Establishes the process operating conditions for department.
- · Supports Operations through troubleshooting operational issues related to the foundry.
- · Reviews all batch sample test results for compliance with specifications.
- · Works closely with process engineering and maintenance to troubleshoot and resolve process, reliability or quality issues related to the foundry.
- · Supports efficient operations by ensuring all raw materials associated with the foundry process are sufficiently available and re-orders material when necessary.
- · Provides spare parts recommendations based on operational usage.
- · Provide preventive maintenance lists to ensure optimal operations.
- · Oversee the relining of the furnaces and furnace integrity.
- · Works in a safe manner that meets all company and industry safety policies and practices.
- · Documents and maintains excellent records and record keeping of equipment performance and operating conditions.
- · Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- · Assures all environmental and safety systems are fully operational whenever the foundry is in operation.
Education / Experience:
- · Minimum BS Degree required in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience and/or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a foundry manufacturing environment in a leadership role.
- Maintenance, engineering experience a plus.

- · Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Primary environment: Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. Short term exposure of temperatures up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Industrial lighting provided.
