The Department of Music, a constituent member of the newly founded School of the Arts, boasts vibrant training programs in opera, composition, conducting, instrumental performance, and jazz. Our diverse faculty shares commitments to inclusive programming.
The Department offers the Bachelor of Music degree in performance, the Bachelor of Arts (in performance, composition, or musicology), and the Master of Music degree with concentrations in opera/voice, collaborative piano, instrumental performance, conducting, composition, music history and literature.
The Concert and Facilities Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the scheduling, production, and promotion of concerts and events within the Music Department.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Concert Scheduling - Coordinate scheduling of 75-100 annual concerts, performances, and events for the Music Department. Work with faculty, the Concert and Calendar Committee, the Anderson Center, the School of the Arts, and other university departments to schedule venues and reserve/book equipment.
- Concert Production - Coordinate the equipment and personnel needs to support all departmental performances and public events. Plan instrument and equipment moves with Facilities Management and outside vendors. Oversee the scheduling of student House Managers. Support department operations by managing logistics for special events and collaborating with other university departments as needed.
- Calendar & Event Management - Maintain and update the department's performance and rehearsal calendars, including Casadesus Recital Hall. Ensure events are listed across university platforms, making necessary updates as schedules change.
- Marketing, Online Presence & Recruitment - Develop promotional materials such as concert posters, social media content, brochures, and recruitment materials for all performances (both faculty and staff). Manage the department's website and social media, handle live-streaming and recordings, and maintain an archive of video content. Establish relationships with local media for event publicity. Oversee recruitment efforts by coordinating auditions with faculty, creating department-specific marketing materials for prospective students, and participating in recruitment events.
- Graduate Assistant & Administrative Supervision - Train and supervise graduate assistants serving as house managers for performances and oversee work-study students assisting with marketing and event coordination.
- Facilities & Equipment Management - Oversee the inventory, maintenance, and scheduling of department musical and audiovisual equipment. Coordinate keyboard tuning and technical support for concerts (in collaboration with the Piano Technician). Manage audio and video equipment for student use and concert production, ensuring all technical needs are met.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree at time of appointment
- Experience with Google Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud applications
- Experience creating basic graphic design materials (such as posters, fliers, brochures, etc.)
Preferred:
- Experience managing and updating a website
- Experience managing spaces, schedules, inventories, and/or events
- Administrative experience in an arts or higher-education setting
- Experience in an office environment supporting the work of multiple people
