Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $56,000 - $61,000
Binghamton University is seeking a Parking Operations Manager to join the Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) team. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Parking Office, ensuring efficient service delivery through staff management, revenue monitoring, enforcement of parking policies, and customer service resolution. The role also includes supervising parking attendants, maintaining parking equipment, and coordinating special event parking logistics.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with University departments to coordinate parking needs on campus
- Hire, train, and supervise permanent and temporary office, enforcement and event staff
- Oversee daily operations of both office and field staff to ensure adherence to parking policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with cash handling policies, revenue collection procedures, and equipment protocols
- Adjust staff schedules as needed to provide adequate coverage for parking operations and special events, including maintaining an on-call rotation
- Address customer concerns related to parking access, violations, and fees, providing prompt and effective resolutions
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs of parking equipment, including pay stations, access gates, and lighting systems
- Authorize purchasing of vehicles, equipment and supplies as needed
- Work with Facilities Management to maintain parking lots, optimize space utilization, and manage lot layouts Analyze parking usage and revenue data to identify areas for operational improvement
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to address customer inquiries and concerns
- The ability to multi-task, maintain attention to detail, and solve problems effectively
- The availability to work occasional nights and weekends (as required)
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
- Minimum of two years of operational experience in parking services
- Physical ability to work extended hours during special events, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 pounds
- A valid Driver's License to operate a vehicle in NYS
Preferred:
- Experience with parking management software and reporting tools
- At least three years of experience working on a residential college campus
- Experience with cash handling procedures and PCI compliance
