Project Accountant
Position Summary
This full-time position is responsible for managing the financial aspects of projects and contracts within the organization. This includes ensuring accurate financial reporting, adherence to budget, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Duties will include revenue recognition, adjusting entries, financial analysis and reporting, including variance analysis, performed monthly along with invoicing long-term contracts and other projects as assigned. In addition, this role could involve handling contract administration duties, such as contract preparation, review, and monitoring of contract compliance and performance. This role will require collaboration with other departments and requires the ability to effectively and respectfully communicate and coordinate with peers, supervisors, and members of other departments.
Key skills required:
- Advanced MS Excel and MS Word skills are necessary
- Ability to communicate and present complex information in a professional setting
- Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and cost control processes
- Gain and apply accounting and contract admin knowledge & experience
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to stay organized, manage a variety of responsibilities, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.
Training and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, is required
- Government Contracts education and training preferred
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
- Contract/project accounting and general accounting
- Financial management, reporting, budgeting, and cost control processes
- Contracting and contract administration, particular for USG contracts
- Accounting software, particularly NetSuite and Daston DCAA On-Deman
- Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Program/project management
- Proven experience in accounting.
- Experience with project or contract accounting.
- Experience with contracts, particularly USG contracts, and financial management is a plus.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and cost control processes.
- Familiarity with accounting software.
- Experience with NetSuite or Daston DCAA On-Demand.
- Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- May be required to obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance
