Job Summary
The Controller is a leader in the Finance and Accounting unit, with oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, financial analysis, banking, tax, and treasury. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
This role will lead the production of period financials, management reporting, manage audits and compliance requirements, oversee bank accounts, and establish financial practices and policies for a public-private partnership in the domestic bioindustrial manufacturing ecosystem.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and lead all aspects of the accounting operations, period close activities, and financial reporting functions, including establishment and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure completeness, accuracy, and sufficient details of financial data are captured systematically to meet the needs of timely management and external reporting, including government fund accounting.
- Take lead in system implementation and enhancements that impact the Record to Report cycle across critical business processes including Order to Cash and Procure to Pay.
- Mentor and develop professional capabilities within the accounting operations, revenue accounting, and general ledger teams to ensure adequate and transparent support to internal stakeholders.
- Partner with Grant Accounting and FP&A functions to develop periodic and ad hoc management and external reporting.
- Establish open channels of communication and manage relationships with internal stakeholders across different offices.
- Spearhead coordination with professional service firms in ownership of external audits and tax filing requirements.
- Take part in other ad hoc strategic and operational initiatives as required.
