The Accounting Contractor will play a vital role in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. This position involves preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, supporting financial close activities, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements. The contractor will also assist with audits and financial statement preparation to ensure adherence to regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform account reconciliations and flux analysis to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including financial data analysis and report preparation.
- Work with large datasets in Excel, utilizing advanced functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements to maintain financial integrity.
- Assist with audit preparation, providing supporting schedules and documentation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA required
- Minimum 4 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in Big 4 public accounting.
- Experience in posting journal entries, with preference for SAP S4/HANA ERP system.
- Knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience managing large data sets.
- Experience in Life Sciences/Biotech is a plus
Work Schedule & Location:
- Cambridge, MA (Hybrid - Onsite Tuesday & Wednesday).
- Flexible hours: One week per month may require 45-50 hours, with other weeks requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week. Typically, no weekend work, but possible during month-end close.
