POSITION OVERVIEW
The Buyer will report to the Supply Chain Manager for functional tasks and performance reporting but will report to the local manager for time sheet reporting and day-to-day on-site tasking. The Buyer will be responsible for providing availability of respective products to internal customers that meet their needs. The Buyer will maintain procurement specific information within the ERP system to drive consistency and real time data. This position is responsible for actioning procurement reports to ensure on-time delivery and will contact and expedite vendors when necessary.
This position is part of a professional team of procurement specialists who work across multiple defense and commercial contracts. Your ability to contribute to a positive team dynamic and take initiative to cross train will be a key part of your role and development. The role is based at the Bellingham, WA site.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in monitoring and analysing current inventory levels and place purchase orders as needed.
- Provide availability or respective products to internal customers that meet their needs.
- Assist in request for quotes, including preparation and analysis, evaluation, and implementation.
- Maintain respective procurement information with the ERP System to meet internal customers’ needs and departmental objectives.
- Action procurement reports to ensure on-time delivery and expediting when necessary.
- Ensure the most cost-effective methods of acquiring goods.
- Seek new suppliers based on best price, quality, availability, and reliability.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Occasional local travel will be required from time to time (within 75 miles).
- Coordinate and execute parts deliveries and pickups.
- Participate with on-site and remote vendor engagements.
- Coordinate facilities and equipment maintenance/ service.
- Coordinate resale of used equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
- 1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment Ability to work both independently and as an efficient team member
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment
- Intermediate level of skill and knowledge of Procurement Principles
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft office software particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Collaborative - Successful history of building relationships, evidence of being a well-respected, trusted partner, and someone others want to work with
- Ability to identify new processes and procedures for continual improvement
- Trustworthy – Passionate dedication and ethical approach to all stakeholders
- Self-motivated - Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working conditions are normal for a Manufacturing environment where exposure to dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level.
- Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear.
- Employee will be required to wear safety toe shoes and safety glasses when on the production floor.
