POSITION OVERVIEW:
This is a hands-on position that requires close and effective working relationship with the manufacturing, engineering, assembly & test, project management, administration, purchasing and warehousing departments.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing Quality Assurance initiatives; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
- Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
- Develop and maintain Quality Assurance action trackers to ensure all actions are completed on time and correctly.
- Develop quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
- Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
- Accomplish quality assurance human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures as required throughout the execution of the program
- Collect data, develop, format, and submit assigned Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) items.
- Leads, participates in and contributes to process/quality improvement teams and/or initiatives. Identifies and recommends improvements to production/work instruction practices or materials which lead to positive results in product quality and process improvements/efficiency.
- Helps define program strategy for contingency planning and risk mitigation.
- Develops and maintains program/project Quality Assurance, Inspection, Test, Trials documentation and Birdon’s Quality Management System.
- Complies with and enforces standard company policies and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS & SCHEDULES
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level.
- Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to strand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection and work boots.
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
ESSENTIAL
Minimum 2-5 years’ quality experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related equivalent experience.
Demonstrated ability at leading or facilitating structured problem-solving events within the framework of a company-wide continuous improvement program.
Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Proficiency with analysis of data and statistical techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and team facilitation skills including customer interaction.
Ability to work under limited supervision.

RELATIONSHIPS
- This position is based in Bellingham, WA and reports to the MLB Production Director. Birdon’s senior management team, including Divisional Managers, may provide additional direction and duties from time to time.
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills are necessary as direct contact with Birdon clients, prospective clients, and production team is an important aspect of this position. It is your responsibility to ensure that the Company’s values and interests are maintained during all internal and external communications.
