What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traveling Recovery Coordinator position at Birth Tissue Donor Services?
Birth Tissue Donor Services (BTDS) strives to be the preferred-choice partner for birth tissue donation and to provide exceptional service to our hospitals, physicians, and expectant parents. We honor a mother’s decision to donate in support of the need for transplantable human tissue. The generosity of these donors enables breakthrough medical applications that can restore vision and heal burns or wounds.
Our goal is to hire dedicated and dependable team members with an exceptional work ethic, integrity, and a shared passion for our mission. We are currently seeking one full-time Traveling Recovery Coordinator to support our established donation programs in multiple locations in states such as TN, GA, SC, KY, TX and MT.
Geographically, candidates who reside within 40 minutes of one of our larger offices in South Carolina (Spartanburg or Greenville) are ideally located. The anticipated travel rate is 50-75%.
A Traveling Recovery Coordinator performs all assigned tasks related to the birth tissue acquisition process and services hospitals per their labor and delivery schedule. BTDS follows all hospital policies, regulations and procedures as well as aseptic technique and OR protocols. Professionalism and a positive attitude are a must while representing BTDS.
Please note that candidates must be willing and able to meet all hospital vendor-credentialing requirements, which typically include verifiable immunization against hepatitis B, influenza and other communicable diseases.
Duties include:
- Driving or flying to assigned locations
- Communicating effectively with labor and delivery staff
- Completing informed consent, donor screening, and acceptability with potential donors
- Acquiring birth tissue
- Coordinating transportation of acquired tissues, blood samples and/or cultures to assigned destinations
- Thorough and accurate completion of donor charts
- Assisting local BTDS leadership in supply preparation and case activity
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Basic understanding of medical terminology; some medical experience desirable
- Basic computer skills
- Willingness to engage with hospital staff
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or successful completion of a healthcare technical or professional program (Allied Health; EMT, Nursing, CST/ST or Hospital Corpsman)
- At least one year of surgical experience and/or donor screening/tissue bank experience
Pay: Compensation is a combination of salary, case pay, and travel pay. Details discussed at 2nd interview.
Schedule: This is a full-time position with variable hours. Due to our commitment to giving all mothers the opportunity to donate their birth tissue, please note that some Saturday work hours will be required.
