Job Purpose:
The Field Service Technician will serve customers in the field such as petrochemical refineries and power and manufacturing plants and perform other duties at the branch as assigned.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Sets up spooling, stranding, closing, swaging machines.
· Cuts wire rope to specified length.
· Forms loop or makes splices.
· Assist in day to day duties of shop employees including but not limited to, fabrication and repair of wire rope slings and assemblies, test bed operation.
· Maintain a safe working environment, and ensure that items fabricated in the shop department are manufactured to BLP's quality standards;
· Assist in proof testing of products when required
· Ensure that equipment products and tools in the shop department are properly maintained and inventoried.
· Evaluate and comply with customer quality requirements as defined on work orders.
· Perform tolerance acceptance measurement duties as required
· Operate powered industrial materials handling equipment necessary to move or store production reels or heavy units for in process or finished goods.
· Measure, cut and prepare wire materials for splicing and fitting swaging.
· Assemble attachments and fittings for wire ends as required.
· Select and assemble appropriate swage dies for application.
· Record product identification on work order for control and traceability.
· Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience with installation process of various types of cranes, required.
- Experience with structural welding, welder certification preferred.
- Ability to use hand and trade tools with precision and safety.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and understand technical data.
- Familiarity working effectively with high voltages.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs independently and 150 lbs with assistance.
- Excellent mechanical and electrical skills required.
- Ability to identify and resolve electrical problems and operational malfunctions.
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Possession of or ability to quickly obtain a TWIC Card.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check (including MVR), fit-for-duty physical, and drug screening.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
