Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our high school teaching team for the academic year 2024-2025. The ideal candidate will be passionate about history, civics, and global studies, and committed to helping students become informed, ethical, and engaged citizens.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate Social Studies lessons to students in Grades 9 to 12.
- Design and implement lesson plans that reflect the school's curriculum, align with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and address diverse learning styles.
- Incorporate primary sources, current events, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary connections to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Assess and monitor student progress; provide regular feedback and adjust instruction to support student growth.
- Utilize technology to support instruction and facilitate student learning.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, characterized by mutual respect and a strong sense of community.
- Participate actively in departmental collaboration, curriculum development, and school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain open and timely communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student performance and needs.
Other Responsibilities:Additional duties as assigned and approved by the Social Studies Department Chairperson and the Administration
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Political Science, Social Studies Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for high school (preferred but not required).
- Experience teaching high school-level Social Studies (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction and assessment.
- Willingness to contribute to the school’s co-curricular life and mission-driven programming.
