Position Description & Details
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct day-to-day operations, assigning work, monitoring performance, and ensuring adequate staffing, supplies, and equipment availability.
- Develop and maintain an operating manual with guidelines, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate bidding processes, leases, contracts, and rental agreements.
- Collaborate with Public Affairs to spearhead marketing, advertising, and recruitment efforts for events.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate part-time temporary staff.
- Secure contracts for concession operations.
- Oversee routine maintenance, cleaning, and purchasing of facility supplies and equipment.
- Partner with departments such as Athletics, Buildings and Grounds, BSC Foundation, and Public Affairs.
- Schedule and prepare facilities, including the Bavendick Center, MDU Resources Community Bowl main field, and Bavendick Field, for events.
- Facilitate communication and coordination with authority committees and members, including Bismarck Public Schools, the University of Mary, and Bismarck Parks and Recreation District.
- Provide input on planning and budgeting for the MDU Resources Community Bowl and Bavendick Center.
- Develop funding strategies, incorporating both private and public resources, for annual operational budgets.
- Perform additional duties as required or assigned.
- Supervises part-time temporary, seasonal staff.
Minimum Requirements
- Appropriate associate’s degree and three years of directly related experience.
- Management experience in the areas of budgeting, strategic planning, decision-making and supervising.
- Proficient at attention to detail, follow-through, planning, organizing and sales skills.
- Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Basic knowledge and background in:
- Building maintenance.
- Grounds care and maintenance.
- Sound and lighting systems as well as other technology-oriented equipment; and
- City, state and federal codes and safety requirements in buildings used for public assemblies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer software skills – Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), email and electronic calendar.
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in related field
- More than three years of directly related experience.
- Experience in facility management
